What is astrology?

In nature the big picture and the little picture reflect each other. The veins of a river seen from space resemble the veins on the back of a leaf. The smallest characteristic of your physical body, your DNA, is a reflection of your body as a whole. Astrology works along the same principle. At the moment when you are born the big picture, the sky, is a reflection of your psyche and your life.

Astrology has been utilized for thousands of years, far longer than most therapies available today. An astrology reading is a catalyst for practical change in your life. Current developments in astrology have increased its speed and efficacy to the point where after one astrology reading you can begin a process of: foreseeing events and the rhythm of their unfolding in order to maximize your time ahead, turning your weaknesses into strengths, and discovering your true nature at its deepest.

Does James offer refunds?

No, James does not offer refunds. If you are concerned about whether a reading with James is the right move for you, you can send him your concerns here or contact him by email at james@jamesmoran.org.

Can James tell me when I will get married, how many children I will have, if I will win the lottery, etc.?

If you want a reading that will give you simple yes/no answers or predict surface details about your future, then James is not the astrologer for you. There are many other astrologers out there that offer this kind of service. James helps his clients understand the rhythm of events as they will unfold, and so helps them dance with their unfolding life in a way that makes the most out of pleasant and challenging times. As well, James offers the possibility of confronting your core issues and transforming them through clear understanding. If you are hungry for change in your life, and you know the only way lasting change will come is through confronting your own life, then James is your man.

Does James conduct readings in person, over the phone, or by Skype?

James is happy to conduct readings in person where convenient. Otherwise he conducts most of his readings over Skype. A reading over the phone is also possible, though Skype is preferable because James can share his screen with you and show you the charts he is reading as he is reading them.

What is the format of his readings?

The format can be just about whatever you would like it to be. Your questions, concerns, curiosities will play a part in guiding the session. After all, the session is yours. Generally James does two things: he gives insights about your life as a whole, and about events upcoming during a window of your choosing, for instance now through the next year. This is done through two astrology charts James will create, called the birth chart (or natal chart) and a transit chart.

What if I don't have my exact time of birth?

The school of astrology James is most versed in is called archetypal astrology. In this school we don't need the exact time of birth in order to engage in an insightful reading. If you have your exact time of birth we can access even more insights, but if you don't have it, don't worry; we'll still have plenty to talk about.

What if I want to have James read the chart of somebody else?

Generally speaking James does not do this unless you have the permission of the person whose chart you would like read. There are a few exceptions. One exception is if a parent wants James to read the chart of their child who is under eighteen years of age. Another exception is if you would like to look at someone else's chart in comparison to yours. This is called a synastry chart. Synastry charts can yield fabulous insights into styles of interactions between specific people and can help us navigate relationships toward their most positive potential. Another exception is reading the chart of a loved one who has passed away.

What type of astrology does James practice?

James is most versed in the branch of astrology known as archetypal astrology. This a branch of western astrology that arose from the work of James' teacher Richard Tarnas. James has also studied other traditions of astrology and continues to do so in order to further enrich the readings that he gives.

Can I ask James specific questions?

Yes, you can. James encourages questions, but they are not compulsory. If you would like him to simply talk about what he sees, that is fine too. You are welcome to ask questions during the reading itself, if they come up. If you would like to ask questions before the reading there is a prompt for your questions on the intake form that you will see when scheduling your reading here.

Does James record the session and send the recording?

No, James doesn't record the sessions. He recommends recording the session on your phone or having a pen and paper handy to take notes and jot down relevant dates.
