Jupiter/Pluto

Jupiter/Pluto brings together the high ideals of Jupiter, and the bountiful success associated with the Jupiter archetype, with the dramatic depth of Pluto, in which power and transformation reside:

The Jupiter/Pluto combination joins together the heights of Jupiter with the depths and power of Pluto. Upper class wealth (Jupiter) mixed with Plutonic power is one way in which this combination can manifest. The lives of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are good examples of this.

Pluto’s power brought up to the grand and exalted heights of Jupiter is a potential manifestation of this combination. Actress Cate Blanchett demonstrates this potential in her role as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings in the following scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spHEw2n9LwE. In the film Ragnorak, Cate Blanchett played the role of Hela, an exalted (Jupiter) goddess who has too much (Jupiter) power (Pluto) and ends up causing Asgard, a place that represents the high (Jupiter) gods and goddesses, to burn and be destroyed (Pluto).

One potential of the Jupiter/Pluto combination involves joining the Plutonic power of the masses with the high ideals of Jupiter. The life and work of Mahatma Gandhi demonstrates this in his ability to stimulate the power of the masses (Pluto) in India with the high ideals (Jupiter) of Indian independence and statehood.

Jupiter/Pluto can show up as a desire to take material wealth and gain (Jupiter) and transform it (Pluto) into something deeper and more profound (Pluto). We can see this manifestation succinctly summarized in the title of Tom Wolfe’s 1987 novel “The Bonfire of the Vanities.” Tom Wolfe was born with the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction. The year the novel was released there was a Jupiter/Pluto transit in the sky that was also combined with the Jupiter/Pluto combination the author was originally born with.
